Kaori is a personal fragrance collection and journaling app provided by ZHANG YUSHEN ("we", "us" or "our"). This policy explains how information is handled when you use Kaori and its supporting services. Contact: [email protected].
Kaori does not require a separate Kaori account. This policy explains our practices; it does not replace any permission or consent required for a particular feature.
Your collection, wish list, usage records, memories, photos, purchase locations and preferences are stored on your device. These records power your journal, recommendations, insights and sharing features; they are not automatically uploaded to a Kaori collection database.
If you enable Pro iCloud sync, collection and journal records are synchronized through Apple's CloudKit in your iCloud account. Some lightweight profile information and preferences, including your display name and title, may also synchronize through Apple's iCloud key-value storage when available, separately from the collection sync switch. This is not a folder in iCloud Drive. Apple device backups may contain app data depending on your system settings.
Widgets and Live Activities receive the information needed for their display through shared storage on your device. Information shown on your Home Screen or Lock Screen may be visible to people who can see that screen.
When you choose to send photos or screenshots for AI recognition, the selected images, recognition mode and app language are sent through Kaori's Cloudflare-hosted proxy to an AI provider. The request does not automatically include your collection or journal. Image content itself may include personal information, so select only images you intend to send.
Kaori currently uses Volcengine Ark and Google Gemini. Requests from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao generally try Volcengine first; other regions generally try Google first. Availability and fallback routing may cause a request to be processed by the other provider. Your location does not guarantee that processing stays in one country.
Our proxy is configured not to persist recognition images or model responses in application storage or application logs. Technical request and security information is handled as described below. AI providers apply their own API terms, safety monitoring and retention practices; this policy does not promise zero retention or a particular training policy on their behalf. You may use manual entry or catalog search without using AI recognition.
Cloudflare provides Kaori's AI proxy, catalog downloads, campaign configuration, analytics relay and website redirects. Network services necessarily receive connection information such as an IP address, request time and requested resource. The AI service uses the connection's country or region for routing and a keyed hash of the IP address for rate limiting; our application logs do not record raw IP addresses.
